Mission: Our mission is to be a strong sustainable organisation with broad community involvement that enables people from all walks of life to engage in creating art in a friendly and supportive environment.

The Horowhenua Art Society, formed in 1949 as the Levin Art Club, had several homes over the years, all of them temporary. In 2006, a decision was made to create our own art rooms and we started the journey of fundraising and applying for grants .

We eventually saw our dream reach fruition on 12th April 2008 when we moved into our new custom-built, future-proofed Art Rooms. We have good heating, concrete flooring in the Studio, a kitchen, wheelchair access, plenty of space and excellent light.

We hold exhibitions throughout the year that reflect the abilities of artists from the Horowhenua and beyond. We also hold workshops, demos and classes that foster talent, often hidden, in a relaxed, informal setting. Beginners are equally welcome, along with our more skilled practitioners of art.

The Studio is open Monday to Friday. Watercolours, acrylics, oils and drawing works are usually on display in our small but perfectly-formed Gallery.

We are an active and friendly bunch and frequently have social events that are well-supported.

Don't worry if you have never painted before - just come along and have fun creating your own masterpiece. We have some paints and brushes available, and there is always someone there to help you get started.

Come and visit us any day so we can show you around our wonderful, purpose-built art rooms which are the envy of many other art groups around the country. We have lots of things happening, and some very talented artists in our midst.
