Pauline Hailwood occasionally holds a series of six-week watercolour classes on Wednesday evenings at the Horowhenua Art Society's Studio at 119 Bath Street, Levin.  Keep a lookout for forthcoming ones later this year.

Pauline will also be holding watercolour classes on Friday afternoons later this year.

Give it a Go classes

Every Monday afternoon, from 1:30 to 3:30, we host a class

that gives people a chance to try their hand at different mediums.

Under the experienced eye of our tutor, Suzanne Connell, you can try:

watercolour, acrylic, oils, drawing (graphite/pencil), ink

Each class costs $5.00 and we supply all the materials.

The first class is free, as it is for all our classes, so if you're a bit hesitant, don't worry - we all started as beginners!!

Just come and have some fun. You might surprise yourself!

Children's Class

Our hugely successful Children's Class, held on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm (term-time only) is currently full.

You are welcome to contact us to learn more, and go on the waiting list if you think it will meet your children's needs.

Fun, instructive, creative - our Children's Class allows children from the age of 8 up to 15 to experience art in new ways.

Our tutors, Sam and Suzanne, employ different approaches, techniques and style.

The classes are informal and enjoyable, but with a strong emphasis on learning and improving, in a relaxed and cooperative atmosphere.

The children are encouraged to work on their own projects as well as take advantage of the highly experienced tutors.

There's time-out for a snack (provided by HAS) and in the summer a quick run around the park before the second half begins.

Monday morning class

Monday mornings are known as the Drawing Class, but in fact, drawing is only one component.

Our Monday morning artists do everything from pastel, acrylic and watercolour, as well as pencil/graphite and charcoal.

We have a good range of people coming to this class, from near-beginners to very accomplished artists.

It's a good class for a newby, and we often have one of our experienced artists on hand

to guide and help you.

Not only that, but it's a welcoming, friendly and fun group that loves having people join in.

Tues, Wed & Thurs morning classes

There are groups of people doing their thing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, generally from around 9am to midday, although some stay on into the afternoon.

Generally, people are working on large or largish works, in oils and acrylics, as well as watercolour.  The Wednesday group includes people doing collage and other interesting things, while on Thursdays you may like to join the card-makers.

Jewellery Class, Tuesday afternoons

Under the guidance of the multi-talented Linda Gill, you can make your own jewellery. She has a huge array of beads, and bits and bobs, and it's not only fun, but very satisfying to return home with something you've made with your own hands and can wear proudly.
